Sumario:Research and discussions on terrorism rarely take up the issue of gender. The idea that women only perform supportive roles reflects certain gender stereotypes that associate women with tenderness, compassion, sensibility, love, caregiving, affection and submission. These type of stereotypes construct and ideal of apolitical women, in which the labor division is based upon biological differences and the distinct abilities to carry out certain tasks, and where the primary role of women is, in the end, to become a mother and a wife instead of developing an identity. If these stereotypes are accepted, then women terrorists become an anomaly, an irrational subject, especially women who are Islamic suicide bombers.
