Sumario:The present work is intended to study the presence of Roman law in university teaching given by the Department of Jurisprudence of the University of Buenos Aires between 1822 and 1852, prior to the creation of the chair of "Roman Law" in the light of the prevailing ideologies in the university field and of historical antecedents. In particular, we will analyze the teaching given by teachers Pedro Alcántara de Somellera and Rafael Casagemas.
