Sumario:This article aims to reflect on different perspectives of Thomas Hobbes as a State educator of the inhabitants of the British Islands. We will try to demonstrate that this English philosopher wrote his most famous work, the Leviathan, with fundamentally educational aims. Therefore, Hobbes developed didactical strategies around the mythical figure of a biblical monster. The purpose of the author is to cause an effect on people and make them understand the origin of the State, its importance, foundations and attributes. In order to achieve that, Hobbes applies different techniques related to those used by playwrights or publicists, considering the complexity of explaining the social contract to a public that is used to another foundation of the legitimacy of the political power. Today, we can learn from the first educator of the "modern" State and this can inspire us in our teaching task in front of a classroom full of postmodern students who have mostly internalized the concept of the State day by day. The monster has lost its spectacular nature but it still remains a fiction worth telling to future lawyers.
