| Sumario: | In recent decades, economic growth, industrial development and modern technologies have provided a new grade of comfort and well-being to our life causing an increase in the consumption of goods and services. However, this economic growth was achieved at the expense of the depletion of natural resources, allowing the loss widespread of ecosystems and ignoring many people who, in addition to living in poverty, depend directly on these resources. Some of the predictions of what will happen in this 21st century point to population growth of up to 9.7 billion by 2050, as will per capita consumption, poverty, social inequality, degradation or unsustainable use of Ecosystems, and accelerate climate change. Therefore, the greatest challenge today is to combine economic, social and environmental aspects of human activities, to try to progress without destroying the environment. The present work addresses the current problems and analyzes an alternative economic model called the green economy, its characteristics, myths and realities, focusing particularly on renewable energy and legislative progress in the generation of renewable energy in a distributed or decentralized form at both national and provincial level. |
