| Sumario: | Hydrogels are widely used in a variety of biomedical devices. Here we present to new ones produced with the use of radiation technology.\nA solution of acrylamide: alginate to 1.2 molar at 2kGy, dose rate of 1kGy/day and air atmosphere, a new material is formed with higher mechanical properties than those of unmodified alginate. The hydrogels obtained are transparent and adhesive films, which are formed instantly in contact with a calcium solution separately applied. The system containing an analgesic drug with topical action could be used in patients with mucositis.\nAnother hydrogel was obtained with a new formulation based on two solvents under gamma radiation. The solution of acrylamide, glycerol 1,3 diglycerolate diacrylate, water and glycerol was exposed to 25kGy, at 10kGy/hour. A transparent, elastic, gently adhesive, swellable and permeable hydrogel is obtained. Radiation technology allows varying the shape and size while achieving the sterility of the final product. Hence a material is formed, that meets the adequate characteristics, so that it can be used as a dressing with topical wound healing actions. |
