Sumario:The present paper's objective is to inquire into the existence of a legal dimension to the elements of statehood that requires that the components of the State have been obtained by a licit cause -understood as a cause in accordance to International Law's peremptory order-. To these ends, it will be analyzed in concrete whether the organization known as the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" can be considered a State under the current norms of International Law.
