Sumario:The following paper begins with an approach to the nature of the International Law, from a dynamic perspective, compulsory in the actual global context. After focusing on the idea of a scale of regulations, the analysis will concentrate on the land of the soft law, emphasizing the need for flexibility at the international level. Previous to that, hard law will be characterized from the theory of the sources of International Law and the unavoidable interaction with soft law. Subsequently, it will be exhibited the main controversies that the use of soft law has provoked, as well as the advantages that has provided, regarding its convinience. Finally, different International Environmental Law instruments will be examined, taking into account the specific features they present ? in comparison with other instruments ? in the light of soft law.
