| Sumario: | This article analyzes Virgilio Piñera's characters which, in spite of loving life, are not able to understand its true meaning. Most of them are fictional spokesmen of the playwright's hard existential and creative biographical circumstances. In order to find a place in society, Piñera lived in exile in Buenos Aires three times (from 1946 to 1958). Later, he lived as a dissident artist in La Habana, due to his opposition to Castro's government. |
