Sumario:  From the consideration of the Facundo by Colonel José María Olascoaga, the authoress tries to rescue a way of reading (and writing) of the Argentine past in one of the crucial moments of its history. Her analysis focuses on discovering some particular aspects of the chosen work and, at the same time, on pointing out those which allow to think about the construction of the national Argentine theatre, understood as a new speech about nationality.
