Sumario:This text analyses Estado fallido, a project carried out by the Mexican collective Teatro Ojo –directed by Héctor Bourges- in different places of Mexico City. This scenic project was part of a critique to the promise of modernity made by the Mexican post-revolutionary  State. The article focuses on Caminando con tortugas –an interpretation of Walter Benjamin's Arcades project- which generated many actions/performances (derivées) in Mexico City's Historic Downtown.
