In this way, even before John Philoponus, he anticipated the criticisms to the Aristotelian system that Galileo would make ten centuries later. Entre los cuatro tratados pertenecientes a la escuela sirio-cristiana del siglo V y falsamente atribuidos al apologista Justino, el Confutatio dogmatum quorundam Aristotelis ocupa un lugar privilegiado. Este tratado admite el hylemorfismo aristotélico, y es a partir de este que se rechazan otras tesis cosmológicas del Estagirita, como la primacía del movimiento local, la eternidad del cielo, la imposibilidad de cambio en las estrellas.
