Sumario:This article studies the validity of Marx and Engels’ propositions –with their contradictions and variations through time- regarding the Asiatic Mode of Production. In particular, the relation to historical processes in Ancient Egypt, especially concerning the state organization, will be studied. The article will also analyze how these elaborations by the German scholars were received and transformed by the main exponents of Marxist historiography.
