Sumario:Popular preaching and its historical sources – sermons – have became during the last decades in invaluable resources on Late Medieval and Modern culture. Since the development of the field, new theories and technics had arisen. This paper present some of the debates on the field and, connected with those, and hermeneutic on the sources. The purpose is to vindicate medieval sermon as an oral registry of communication that can be studied and understood beyond its content in order to enrich the History of pre-Gutenbergian Europe.
