Sumario:Diego Torres Bollo was the first Provincial of the Jesuit Assistance of Paraguay and who initiated the recognized program of reductions of the Guarani Indians. This founding in 1607 was the result of an intense internal debate about the redefinition of the tasks that the Jesuits should occupy in American lands, with the goal of reconcile the demands and cross-needs of the papacy and the Spanish monarchy.
