Sumario:Deepening the concept of erudition allows not only to evoke the metaphor of the book as world, but also to understand its importance as a value for a significant number of works. In this sense, the Arcadia of Lope de Vega –published in 1598–, is a paradigmatic example not only for the representation of the erudition in the inner aspect of the text, but also by the closing segment which it was attached from the first editions: the important “Exposición de los nombres poéticos y históricos contenidos en este libro”. Inquire the interrelations among erudition excesses of the story and the presence of that final list may be essential for a real understanding of the famous pastoral novel.
