Sumario:Based on a research on cognitive behavioural therapies that I am doing in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the objective of this work is, from the professional’s point of view, to investigate the place that words of patients have at the moment of the therapy. From the cognitive behavioural approach, the fact of being a psychology based on evidence; directive and focused on solving problems in the short/medium term is highlighted. Taking into account this particularities, the different registers given to thought, speak and behaviour are explored paying special attention to the function of speaking during the definition of diagnosis and treatment. In this therapeutic process not only there are certain temporalities that are important to comply but also it is important “not speaking for speaking”. The methodological approach is qualitative; interviews were conducted with professionals working from the cognitive behavioural approach in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
