We specifically analize the souls of the oligarchic man, the democratic man and tyrannical man, particularly the latter given its absolute disregard of rational factors. Contrary to what might appear at first sight, we try to show why, even in a soul where reason does not prevail over irrationality, weakness of will is conceptually unacceptable and therefore the “Socratic intellectualism” remains in effect. Nevertheless, we will see why the tyrant’s actions are morally reprehensibles, this is: he is not just an ignorant who does not know what he is doing.  En el presente trabajo nos proponemos estudiar en detalle aquellos casos analizados por Platón en República en los que el alma es gobernada por alguna de sus partes irracionales, fundamentalmente la apetitiva, dado que, a primera vista, esto podría dar lugar a acciones incontinentes, es decir: acciones en las que la racionalidad es vencida por la irracionalidad gobernante. Nos detendremos específicamente en las almas de los hombres oligárquico, democrático y tiránico, pero puntualmente en este último dada su absoluta prescindencia de factores racionales. En contra de lo que podría parecer a primera vista, intentaremos mostrar por qué, aun en un alma donde la razón no logra imponerse a la irracionalidad, la incontinencia sigue resultando conceptualmente imposible y, por ende, el “Intelectualismo socrático” permanece vigente.
