description This article is based on ethnographic research conducted in the rural town of Los Castillos located in the eastern valleys of Catamarca, Argentina. The research that frames this article aims to comprehend certain dimensions of castillisto understandings of their relationship with meteorological phenomena. Linking castillisto experiences to the folkloric and ethnographic registers of Catamarca and the Argentine Northwest, I aim to express certain basic characteristics that define the relationship between two air flows, the aire and the Zonda, and local bodies. I focus on them in order to explore the concept of “kuty” or “turn” as systematized by the Argentine philosopher Rodolfo Kusch in 1970, I highlight the harmful nature of these as they introduce an unfortunate and abrupt change in circumstance. Moreover, this text aims to contribute to the discussion on the uses of the concept of “Nature” in rural and indigenous ethnographic contexts of Argentine Northwest and the southern Andes.

La investigación que lo enmarca tiene como objetivo entender algunas dimensiones de la comprensión que los castillistos desarrollan de sus propias relaciones con ciertos fenómenos meteorológicos. Poniendo en resonancia las experiencias castillistas con registros folklóricos y etnográficos de la provincia y la región del NOA, buscaré expresar ciertos caracteres básicos que definen las relaciones entre dos flujos aéreos, el aire y el Zonda, y los cuerpos locales. Me centraré en ellos para explorar el concepto de kuty o “vuelco” según ha sido sistematizado por Rodolfo Kusch en 1970: resaltaré la afección nociva que este supone al instaurar cambios abruptos de las circunstancias de tipo nefasto. A su vez, el propósito de este texto será contribuir a la discusión en torno a la operatividad del concepto de “Naturaleza” en contextos etnográficos campesinos e indígenas del NOA y el sur andino.  Cet article part d’une enquête faite à Los Castillos, un village rural situé dans les vallées orientales de la Province de Catamarca, Argentine. L’enquête qui en est le cadre a pour objectif de comprendre quelques dimensions de la compréhension que les castillistos ont développée sur leurs relations spécifiques avec certains phénomènes météorologiques. En mettant en résonance les expériences locales avec des registres folkloriques et ethnographiques de la province et la région du nord-ouest argentin, je chercherai à exprimer certains caractères basiques qui définissent les relations entre deux flux aériens, l’air et le Zonda, et les corps locaux. Je me centrerai sur eux pour explorer le concept de “kuty” ou “retournement” tel qu’il a été conceptualisé par le philosophe et anthropologue argentin Rodolfo Kusch en 1970: je soulignerai l’affection nocive qui ces flux aériens entraînent en instaurant ces changement abrupts et néfastes des circonstances.
