Finally there is the difference between the method of Romero, marked by the large model and tracking history on the one hand, and secondly the current patterns of neoclassical analysis as applied to history. Se toman aspectos de la obra de Romero que se creyeron desactualizados para mostrar su vigencia, a la luz de una investigación en curso sobre las revoluciones burguesas del siglo XII en España. Se concentra el análisis en la caracterización del burgués, que combina economía de subsistencia y del beneficio. Esto se relaciona con una visión cualitativa del crecimiento y con la lucha por la elevación de su estatus que emprende esta elite del burgo.
