Therefore it was possible to shed light not only on the work of negative character, of repression and censorship, but also on the normative character, doctrinal development and intervention in the political and cultural issues of the modern world in the body of Catholic Christianity. Thus the Roman Holy Office played an important role in the part of the world subject to the iberican inquisitions, in particular the Spanish. When were the first signs of this intervention of Rome in the american world religious government? On this aspect I would like to deal shortly in this space.  En el conocimiento de los historiadores, ha habido algunas novedades debido a la apertura del archivo histórico de la Congregación vaticana en 1998. Eso ha hecho posible echar luz no solo sobre la obra de carácter negativo, de represión y censura, sino también sobre la de carácter normativo, de elaboración doctrinal y de intervención en las cuestiones políticas y culturales del mundo moderno en todo el cuerpo de la cristiandad católica. Por este medio, el Santo Oficio romano tuvo un papel importante en la parte del mundo sometida a las Inquisiciones ibéricas y en particular a la española. ¿Cuándo se dieron las primeras señales de esta intervención de Roma en el gobierno religioso del mundo americano?
