Taking into account this last issue, we propose that what happened in Toledo can be classified as an acculturation since the civil and ecclesiastical powers launched a series of devices to erase the Visigoth and Arab heritage in the medium and long term, in order to lead a community increasingly homogeneous. A strategy that used to accompany the conquests that far from exhausted in its economic aspects involved also the loss of an autonomous cultural development for the vanquished, specially affecting their language and religion.
