| Sumario: | The prematurely truncated Presidential tenure of Arturo Frondizi (1958-1962) represented a landmark in Argentina´s economic evolution. During that period, together with noticeable, and sometimes turbulent macroeconomic oscillations, the country went through considerable changes in the structure of production and the set of influential economic actors, with repercussions that lasted in the following years. This essay studies the nature of the processes which determined the main macroeconomic developments during the period, and their interaction with the also agitated political movements. The focus is put particularly on the dynamics of the perceptions and behavior of agents, and their incidence on the observed macro performance. Given that consideration, together with the analysis of quantitative macroeconomic indicators, special attention is given to the contemporary views and pronouncements of protagonists and observers. |
