| Sumario: | Drawing from Acrobates and Cuisine & Confessions –while at the same time sketching genealogicaly towards other scenic and literary configurations, from Camille Boitel to Silvina Ocampo–, this paper investigates the relationship of contemporary circus to communitarian processes of mourning. By way of analyzing both scenic works as they were showed in Buenos Aires in 2015 while also exploring certain psychoanalytic theorems, a concept of ‘embodiment of grief’ is brought forth, meant to name the location within the body of death and mortality as an organic hole, such as it is here undergone on the stage as a space available for collective ritual. |
