Sumario:This paper presents a first approach to the comparison of some of the economic conditions between two regions of Argentina in the twentieth century. In recent years there has been a boom of comparative analyzes in economic history, focusing on welfare or inequality. In the Argentine case, there are more abundant data sources from some regions than others. One of the more complete data sources for prices and urban wages is Mendoza, and of course, Buenos Aires. Both regions were pioneers in building institutional data gathering agencies. However, the interests of statisticians and institutions were not always constant. Therefore, the survey of publications will be complemented it with unofficial sources and serial data available on different archives. The prices and wages series allow us to bringing the first comparative results on the evolution of both indicators, as well as the evolution of real wages
