Sumario:MERCOSUR has shown a growing interest to consider regional integration as a basis for strengthening itsinternational competitiveness, mainly through productive complementarity and specialization. This study tries to make a methodological contribution to the measurement of the mentioned phenomena by disaggregating products to then rebuild productive value chains categories. Secondly, we present a preliminary measure for MERCOSUR countries over the period 2003-2012. Our results show that there is evidence of some productive integration (mostly between the largest members of the bloc) and some interesting potentialities for productive policy for the bloc.
