The work has the following objectives: on the one hand, to identify certain perceptions and experiences that oriented relations between the military and the anthropologist. On the other hand, to recognize how these relationships affected the production of ethnographic knowledge. Finally, these results will be considered in relation to theoretical and methodological debates over the dialogic nature of anthropological knowledge and the so-called anthropology “at home”. Este artículo propone un análisis de los contextos de producción de una etnografía efectuada en el año 2008 durante la navegación de un buque de la Armada que patrullaba las doscientas millas del Mar Argentino. El trabajo tiene los siguientes objetivos: por un lado, identificar algunas percepciones y experiencias que orientaron las relaciones entre los militares y el antropólogo; por el otro, reconocer cómo esas relaciones incidieron en la producción de los conocimientos etnográficos. Por último, estos resultados serán considerados en relación con debates teórico-metodológicos acerca del carácter dialógico del conocimiento antropológico y la denominada “antropología hecha en casa”. Este artigo propõe uma análise dos contextos de produção de uma etnografia realizada em 2008 durante a navegação num navio de guerra da Marinha Argentina que patrulhava as 200 milhas do Mar Argentino. O trabalho tem os seguintes objetivos. Por um lado, identificar algumas percepções e experiências que orientaram as relações entre os militares e o antropólogo. Por outro lado, reconhecer como esses relacionamentos tiveram efeitos na produção dos conhecimentos etnográficos.
