Sumario:This article analyses the Defensorium trium conclusionum, a work by the theologian Alfonso de Madrigal, who is commonly known as El Tostado. The Defensorium trium conclusionum is one of his most original treatys and one of those that best defines him. For this reason, through the analysis we will appreciate, among others, two of the author's most genuine features. Firstly, his immense and varied knowledge, knowledge that extends to almost all areas of knowledge. Secondly, his critical attitude towards any idea lacking a consistent foundation, a faithful reflection of a personality restless to obtain knowledge, whenever possible, based on rational and scientific criteria. Consequently, and due to the characteristics reflected in his writing, Alfonso de Madrigal deserves to be placed among the most distinguished figures of castilian Humanism.
