| Sumario: | In this article we provide an initial approach to the work of the publishing house of the Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno of Argentina at the beginning of the 21st century. The BNMM publishing house represents a unique case in the field of publishing and library studies as a state-owned commercial publishing house has been scarcely studied. In this paper, both quantitative and qualitative techniques are used to analyze various sources such as prologues and epilogues of books and collections, regulations, journalistic articles and official speeches. After framing the publishing seal in relation to its own history and institutional mission and the public policies that support it, based on the reading of these sources and a descriptive and synthetic analysis of the catalog and two collections we reconstruct in general terms the actions of the publishing house during the period 2004-2015. Among the results, we present data that reflects the editorial production of the institution and the goals pursued by the initiative, in dialogue with contemporary debates about the mission of the BNMM, public publishing, and the dissemination of national culture.
