| Sumario: | The media influence of scientific research is analyzed in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS), with two main objectives: i) to develop an analytical framework by defining the main variables, dimensions and indicators to deepen the understanding of the media influence of scientific publications, ii) to conduct a case study to analyze the characteristics of publications with media influence and the news that disseminate these academic results. To this end, the media mentions collected by Altmetric.com of the publications indexed in Web of Science between 2017 and 2021 signed with affiliations of the HSS area of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) are analyzed. The articles that have obtained media influence tend to have greater academic impact and are published in scientific journals with greater visibility, mostly in open access, and with greater collaboration between authors, centers or countries, than those that do not have this impact. The news arising from the articles analyzed are published mainly in English and Spanish, appearmainly in general press websites, in European media (mainly Spanish) and without a specific section in their publication.
