Sumario:The current paper is a reflection on variable analysis selected during a research on a topic of Andean history: the use of emblems of power and prestige by andean authoriries during the  XVI and XVII centuries in the Viceroyalty of Peru. We present some considerations about the thematic axis that allow us to make a critical analysis of the sources with which we worked. The above mention variables are related to both Anthropology and History, showing the richness interdisciplinary approaches brings to our work. An example of that, is the analysis of rituals and symbols of power and prestige in the indigenous society, visualized from an historical perspective of transformation and change inside the ambivalent colonial society.
