Sumario:Although the relationship between libraries and citizenship has been widely studied, there is a gap in the production of knowledge around the link between libraries and global citizenship. The present work contributes to bridge that gap by presenting the results of an investigation that sought to understand how two rural libraries in Colombia, through their reading, writing and orality practices, contribute to the construction of global citizenship. The study was based on a research approach that favors dialogue and the collective construction of knowledge. The results allowed to identify that both libraries build global citizenship by promoting its three fundamental pillars: respect for diversity, solidarity, and a shared sense of humanity.
