Sumario:This work examines the reading habit of 7.094 Ecuadorian university students through an online survey. They are analyzed according to gender, the three geographic areas of Ecuador, the undergraduate/postgraduate distinction, and the areas of knowledge. Differences are compared in hours spent per week, number of books read, frequency of library attendance, types of reading done there, number of books purchased/downloaded, and percentage spent reading in free time compared to other activities in the mentioned categories. The students of Arts and Humanities and those of Health Sciences are the ones with the best reading habit. However, the reading habit of the sample as a whole is low, which is why the preparation of professors is necessary to face this problem.
