Sumario:This paper aims to analyze, from an ethnographic approach, the bonds establish by the inhabitants of El Encón (department of Rosario de Lerma, Salta province, Argentina) between past and present times, visualized in their practices of inhabiting and signifying the space. It is based on the assumption that the past is not the preterit of the present experience, rather it constitutes the latter and these temporal relationship rooted somewhere is displayed in the materiality of the space through brands, names and landmarks. The empirical reference from which the subject is approached is the process of construction of Club de Campo El Encón (El Encón Country Club) as a real estate development, in relation with its "background" as a farm, which seems to continue inhabiting it and defining it.
