Sumario:At the global level, there are still many disagreements regarding the number of marine protected areas (MPAs) and what the concept of marine space protection means. In recent times, a group of experts developed an instrument called the AMP Guide with the aim of bringing clarity to these aspects. The objective of this work has been to apply this Guide to the context of MPAs in the province of Buenos Aires to obtain an evaluation and classification of them. The results obtained indicate difficulties in achieving the effective implementation of the studied reserves and a low level of protection that prevents the achievement of conservation objectives and obtaining the expected benefits.
