Sumario:This article approaches the mass protest of Trelewazo in October 1972, understood it as a regional expression of the class struggle process of the period, and in particular, as the combined result of both the accelerated industrialization process and the incorporation of the region into the general repressive circuit. Both processes gave rise to new social relations, stimulating a growing politicization whose deliberative and organizational "gymnastics" (in assemblies and commissions) is essential to understand the dynamics of the protest. The "Vigilant Operation" led to the alignment of the political forces that opposed the regime, around a central demand articulated them: the freedom of political prisoners and the defense of human rights.
