Sumario:Haemonchus contortus is reported for the first time in sheep from Argentine Patagonia. The finding was obtained from a pooled fecal culture of samples collected in May 2025. Larval identification was based on morphological characteristics observed under a light microscope and was subsequently confirmed by species-specific PCR analysis. H. contortus is a blood-feeding nematode with high sanitary and productive impact, traditionally restricted to warm and humid regions. Its detection in a cold temperate region suggests a potential southward expansion of its geographic range in Argentina, following patterns observed in other parts of the world under climate change scenarios. This finding highlights the need for epidemiological surveillance to assess its establishment and potential implications for sheep health in the region.
