Sumario:The emergence of Palestinian cinema dates to 1935, when director Ibrahim Hassan Sirhan filmed what is considered the first Palestinian film in history: the visit of Saudi King Ibn Saud to Palestine. Since then, despite the almost hegemonic control of the film industry by the United States, the Zionist colonization of the territory and the various exiles that the PLO has gone through, Palestinian cinema has been an artistic manifestation of the so-called art of resistance, because it has been a social-political space that seeks to raise awareness , resist and inform. In this article, we will make a general balance of Palestinian cinema since its beginnings in 1935, considering its formative stage in the seventies by the hand of the PLO and until its recent consolidation. To do so, we will reflect on the film industry, we will give our brief definition of what we understand as Palestinian cinema, we will analyze decade by decade the Palestinian film productions recovering the themes, places and approaches to the Palestinian question and, finally, we will emphasize that the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people could set a landmark in the way of making and understanding cinema.
