Sumario:Social cartography is an appropriate methodology for studying the consequences of urban expansion in localities within the department of Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina. It is based on the application of situational analysis, drawing from the perspectives and experiences of residents. This participatory process not only raises awareness about the environment but also promotes critical reflection for planning improvements. This paper reviews the theoretical and methodological background of social cartography with the aim of defining the key concepts and outlining the methodological steps to be developed. Numerous experiences and approaches from relevant studies will be taken as references.
