| Sumario: | This paper is based on the assumption that countries have, essentially, two mechanisms to influence the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals SDG: the regulation of their societies and the use of their public budget. On this second aspect, it presents a contribution to an standardized and comparable measurement methodology and analysis of the link and impact of public budgets with the goals of the SDGs.
Firstly, methodological examples of ways to make data from different domains comparable, such as countries, subnational states, institutions, etc., are presented so that lessons can be drawn from such comparisons, and secondly, the identification of indicators of results of policies and alternative strategies of orientation of the public budget towards the SDGs, in order that they can help the quality of the formulation of policies.
As an example of the use of this conceptual approach, for the year 2021, the results of its application to a case of a Latin American country (that is not identified) and a sample of 12 countries in the region are presented, based on budget data.
