| Sumario: | In this research we are interested in approaching the study of policies aimed at the construction of primary schools under the National Education Council (CNE), mainly located in rural areas of the provinces, between 1956 and 1978. That is to say, those schools founded in the provinces to complement the work of local governments and those created in National Colonies and National Territories that by 1956 had been provincialised. We start from three hypotheses. First, we show that most of the transferred schools were located in rural areas. Secondly, we argue that the decentralisation project initiated after 1956 was expressed in school construction policies: those governments that oriented their policies towards devolution neglected it or made it rest on the provinces. Finally, we point out that the change in the way education was financed, which implied the transfer of primary schools and the approval of a programme with external financing, oriented mainly to school construction, was based on the demand of the Argentine provinces to solve the problems related to the situation of school buildings. |
