Sumario:This work has two objectives: on one hand, it seeks to make a critical historical journey —necessary— of Comparative Literature as a discipline and interdiscipline, to understand the diverse meanings in different contexts and times. What do we mean when we talk about Comparative Literature? On the other hand, this article aims to contribute to the construction of a methodological approach to Comparative Literature that focuses on Latin American contrastive comparatism as an interdisciplinary field, on the reading of the new intercultural set that illuminates other analytical perspectives and on the concept of estrangement that challenges the gaze.
