Sumario:When we listen to a recorded song, we are exposed to hearing much more than the song itself. In this sense, if we conceive the recorded song as the primary text, and adopt an endophonographic perspective of analysis, we will find that there is more than a lyric sung with a harmonic accompaniment in it, recorded on a particular medium. In this article, we propose to investigate this statement, taking as an object of study the song «Desierto» belonging to Fito Páez (Argentina, 1963). Using a methodological strategy focused on auditory analysis, the objective is to be able to recognize, describe and analyze not only the specific configuration of musical structures, lyrics and technical–discursive operations, but also to account for the unique interrelation that occurs. among them, and from which the final sound result of «Desierto» as a recorded song is constituted. Our initial hypothesis is that various aspects of the final sound result of this recorded song are not exclusively attributable to the song and/or its musical performance, but rather the technical–discursive operations carried out in the mixing stage are, like the previous ones, determinants in its constitution.
