To this end, his redefinition of polemics is placed within the framework of his critique of Kant, who had characterized polemics as a purely negative and defensive weapon of the Critique. Against this background, Schlegel's attempt to make polemics a constitutive part is analyzed. This attempt, it is argued, is aimed at overturning the reification or dehistoricization of reason that goes hand in hand with the transcendental determination of its limits and at questioning its political implications for the configuration of the nascent bourgeois public sphere. Si Carl Schmitt vió en Friedrich Schlegel al pensador liberal por excelencia, el objetivo de este texto es presentar la concepción schlegeliana de la polémica como un intento por denunciar y contrarrestar las neutralizaciones del propio pensamiento liberal. Para ello se ubica su redefinición de la polémica en el marco de su crítica a Kant, quien había caracterizado a la polémica como un arma puramente negativa y defensiva de la Crítica. Sobre este trasfondo, se analiza el intento de Schlegel por convertir a la polémica en una parte constitutiva. Según se sostiene, este intento estaría orientado a revocar la reificación o deshistorización de la razón que va de la mano de la determinación trascendental de sus límites y a cuestionar sus implicancias políticas sobre la configuración de la naciente esfera pública burguesa.
