| Sumario: | A wide diversity of international organizations have worked on the identification of the knowledge, capacities, skills and attitudes that can be considered essential for people to successfully contribute to the efforts required to look at our planet from the One Health approach. This integrated, interdisciplinary, multisectoral and preventive approach to protect human, animal and environmental health entails considering the development of competencies for the construction of an integral professional identity. The objective of this work is to carry out a review of proposals of competencies with a One Health approach in the field of veterinary education. The obtained results indicate an international consensus regarding basic or central domains of One Health competencies called: management, communication and informatics, values and ethics, culture, beliefs and gender, leadership, teamwork, collaboration and association, functions and responsibilities, systemic thinking, politics and promotion and research. Subdomains and examples are proposed for these domains. Both the competencies and the personal attributes promoted by the One Health approach guide the integral construction of the professional identity. |
