Sumario:A cross-sectional survey was performed in beef (n= 19) and dairy cattle (n=21) herds and goat (n= 43) flocks from different regions of Jujuy and Salta provinces, with the aim of studying the association between the seroprevalence against Neospora caninum antibodies and risk factors related to the farm and the animal management. Sera were processed by the indirect fluorescent antibody test IFAT technique. The Chi-square, Odds Ratio (OR) and logistic regression were used for the statistical analysis of the variables. Of the 83 visited farms, 91,6% of them had at least one seropositive animal. The general prevalence was 34,4±27% (95 % CI: 28,8-40,7%), finding significant differences (p<0.006) between the prevalence of beef systems (17.7 ±10%) in relation to that of dairy cattle (37.3 ±16%) and goats (40.2 ±33.1 %). The risk factors significantly associated to N. caninum prevalence ≥20% of the cattle sampled were the dairy system (OR 10,2; 95% IC: 2,39-44,1) and an abortion rate greater than 7% (OR 3,85; 95% IC: 1,0-14,8) and in caprines the percentage of dogs greater than 5 % in relation to the total number of mating goats (OR 6,8; 95% IC: 1,85-25,2) and tendency to be associated with those semi-intensive systems with some supplementation (OR 3,25; 95% IC: 0,92-14,2). The present results show that infestations by N.caninum in the dairy herds and goat flocks of Salta and Jujuy are important and deserves further studies.
