Sumario:This study aims to analyze the communication processes triggered in university extension as a tool for transferring knowledge and making political–health decisions to fulfill the educational institution’s mission. The report includes the methodological and theoretical framework concerning knowledge management and conceptualization of information and communication. In the university extension scenario, health communication’s importance is analyzed, addressing components of the knowledge management process (management politics; of information and content) and describing models tending to relevant, pertinent, and meaningful learning. The case analysis of social practice in the university extension of the, which applies the model for the social construction of knowledge through iterative and interactive deliberative processes between social actors, allows building the hypothesis that this model favors the translation of knowledge for decision–making political–health decisions.
