Sumario:This article analyzes the relationship between socioeconomic status and environmental dimension in Neuquén, an intermediate city located in the Argentine North Patagonia. The study is based on the premise that these dimensions, far from operating independently, intersect to shape socio-environmentally segregated territories. Methodologically, the analysis relies on intensive use of data at the census tract level from the National Population and Housing Census of 2010, as well as other sources that offer environmental information (for example: layer of green spaces offered by the geoservice of the National Geographic Institute and green index available in the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development). In particular, to explore the link between the socioeconomic and environmental dimensions, the Pearson correlation coefficient is calculated, followed by a Principal Component Analysis. Lastly, thematic maps are created to reveal the spatial distribution of social groups and environmental risks, identifying certain areas in which disadvantages accumulate, further widening the social gap.
