Sumario:This article presents a description and analysis of the sociolinguistic situation of Bolivian migrants living in the city of General Güemes, province of Salta, a place where Spanish-Quechua contact is evident. The data are analyzed in relation of two groups of migrants, one located in an urban area and the other in a rural one, in order to determine the areas and the use of Spanish and Quechua in both groups. The aim is to identify and explain the factors that influence the use or abandonment of the Quechua language. The study is carried out from a perspective that assumes that the indigenous languages of the Argentine territory have undergone a process of invisibilization and that this has also happened in the case of the languages of other minorities, such as Bolivian migrants.
