| Sumario: | Sicilian writer Melo Freni wrote several novels set in his homeland:La familia Ceravolo (1980), Le passioni di Petra 1985), Marta d’Elicona (1987) yLa valle della luna (1994). These works clearly indicate in their construction a fundamental link with the story and the geographical space where the actions of their characters take place. Using the broader concept of “biogeography”, this article traces some features of Freni’s poetics and analyzes cultural aspects present in the aforementioned novels, with special emphasis on the mythical component, charasteristic of much of this literature of southern Italy, in wich the various civilizations that succeeded each other left their mark on various aspects of cultural life |
