Sumario:This work is part of the results of the Research project in the area of History of Education that addressed regional educational problems through the written press (newspapers with regional and local circulation, union press, among others) in the province of Río Negro, during the period 1957-2001. In particular, the educational reform proposal in the province of Río Negro that was attempted to be implemented with the Kumelkan Project will be analyzed in this instance, focusing on the meanings about teaching work that were disseminated in the local press. The various communications that the written press created about the reforms to the Teaching Statute that were proposed in the context of the economic crisis of the province and the Educational Reform in the 90 are analyzed. In the development, the written press is considered as a political actor, and, from that place, as one ofthe instruments that form social representations and legitimize political-social discourses.
